Christmas Carol Event 2023

Monday 18^th December 2023, 6:00-7:00pm

Sing songs and carols to celebrate Christmas with local residents on The Green!
Suitable for all ages – mince pies, sausage rolls mulled wine & hot drinks.

Bring a torch. This will be a cash-only event.
Priority seating will be available.

Clean The Green

Come along on 16 March and get The Green ready for Spring!

Our Clean The Green day is on Saturday 16 March starting at 10am. There is lots to do, and everyone can lend a hand.

Our Green is a valuable part of the area and this is a great chance to make it look its best, meet some of our neighbours and have a chat. Bring along any tools you think might be helpful and get involved!

Looking Ahead

We will be holding our AGM at 8.00 pm on Wednesday 20th July at Tina and Dinos’ house – 1, Landen Park (please use the side entrance). Please attend if you can.

We have reached a critical point and need to make some important decisions that could affect the future of the Residents’ Association. It is vital that the Residents’ Association continues to exist, given all that has been achieved over the last few years in the community, and particularly in protecting The Green from being developed. However, the current officers – Chair, Treasurer and Secretary – are all due to stand down as they have served the statutory 3 years.

Please consider if you could take on one of these roles, or help in some way. Over the next few days, we will circulate the meeting agenda, and also a brief description of each of the roles for your consideration.

It’s Today!

Come and join the Jubilee Party from 2:00pm. There will be Games, Activities, Tombola, Raffle, Music, Magician, Picnics, Cakes, Candy Floss and Refreshments!

Bring your family; bring your friends; bring your picnic; bring your cash – and bring your smile!

What will you eat? What will you wear? What might you win? Will you decorate your house?

So many questions! What will you be doing at the Jubilee Party on Saturday? Don’t forget that we start at 2pm.

I hope you are getting your Picnic Hamper together. There will be chairs and, of course, the grass to enjoy your picnic on. What will you bring to eat?
And there will be Cakes and Drinks for sale, too – plus Candy Floss!

The Fancy Dress competition gives you a chance to demonstrate your flair for Royalty-themed costume. You could be Queen for a Day, or Court Jester, or a Knight, or the King of the Jungle, or a Disney star. Which will you choose? Is your costume ready?
There will be prizes!

The Raffle tickets are selling well – be sure to get yours (from Tina.md01@gmail.com)!

And there is a Cake Raffle as well, for the Jubilee Cake made especially by Nicky Weller of The Well Baked Cake (based in Landen Park). Tickets for this will be available on the day. Make sure you have some cash to buy yours, and so you can enjoy the Lucky Dip and Tombola.

As a special memento, each child can take away a Jubilee Medal. And adults can buy one for £2.

There will be games to play, singing and lots of other ways to have fun!

And don’t forget – you could decorate your home! Make some bunting, flags, pictures of The Queen or anything that will brighten things up.

The Raffle at the Jubilee Party has some fantastic prizes.

There’s an Afternoon Tea Hamper, compiled by local residents, with lots of lovely tea, coffee, biscuits, cakes, scones, jam, chocolates, fudge – and even a bottle of fizz! Perfect for relaxing while you celebrate the Jubilee.

We also have Vouchers from Waitrose (or John Lewis, £50) and Collingwood Batchellor (£20), so that you can treat yourself. And Tesco has donated some items, too.

Cake Raffle

There is a separate raffle, at the Cake Stall, for a magnificent Jubilee Cake, donated by the wonderful Nikki Weller of The Well Baked Cake, based in Landen Park. She has done some brilliant work for us before, and we are eager to see how the Jubilee has inspired her.

Who will you come as?

We’ll be having lots of fun with fancy dress at the Jubilee Party. Start planning your outfit now!

The theme is ‘Royalty’, and you can interpret this as broadly as you like. You could come as a Princess, Prince, King or Queen.

Or perhaps a Knight – in shining armour, or a character from Camelot.

Or you could be the Court Jester, or the Fool.

And there are lots of other ideas, including Disney characters. Let your imagination go!
